  • Training for Work in International Teams

    Seminar objectives
The purpose of the seminar is to help you improve your skill and confidence in communicating with others.

    To:

    • Increase your own self-awareness and your awareness of others' reactions.
    • Examine personal and cultural differences and how they can release creativity when dealt with constructively.
    • Strengthen your knowledge base with applicable insights, concepts and methods.
    • Encourage practice, experimentation and reflection.

And with this build a platform from which you can continue your personal learning and contribute positively to teamwork in your team.

The 2 1/2 day seminar is useful for:

    • International teams which are starting up or are established. Also virtual teams.
    • Participants who are to work in a global team, though not necessarily the same team.

    Approach
The seminar deals with three levels of awareness, with interpersonal communication building upon intrapersonal awareness, and between-group communication building upon interpersonal processes:

"There is nothing so practical as a good theory". Three "theoretical models", three tools, are central to the seminar:

    • A model for dialog
    • The MBI model "Mapping, Bridging, Integrating" for dealing with diversity
    • The ABCDE model for dealing with one's own responses.

The seminar will encourage active participation and will consist of:

    Assessments using:

    • The Cultural Perspectives Questionnaire (CPQ), which gives individual feedback on cultural values
    • Diversity Icebreaker, for identifying a person’s preferred work and communication style
    • Mini-lectures and group discussions
    • Exercises and simulations (with video-feedback)

Depending on the type of team and its needs, the training can also include dealing with the special cahallenges of:

    • Virtual teams
    • Project teams and projects

The seminar can be held in English or Norwegian.
